Rooted in Iraq’s October 2019 uprisings, Ki~Bé ~ Giš is a hybrid documentary about revolution, exile, memory, and the longing to return. Told through protest footage, archival images, experimental performances, and a fairytale-like narrative drawn from ancient Mesopotamian myths, the film traces a movement violently silenced while evoking Iraq’s modern history of war, injustice, and recurring waves of exodus. Moving between myth and history, collective memory and lived reality, it asks what remains when a revolution fades from view—and how the desire for justice and return endures across generations. A meditation on displacement, loss, resistance, and hope, Ki~Bé ~ Giš becomes an epic of return—without returning.
